We’re always looking for ideas to get the most out of Dr. Jeannie’s lessons. With this in mind, the following questions were provided by the Bible study group at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Cambridge, MA. These questions are related to both Solomon (Part 1) and Solomon (Part 2).
- Review: what did the Manichaeans believe?
- Why can’t we judge the sins of righteous people/saints from he Old Testament? Why are their stories included in the scriptures if we are held to different standards?
- What do you think of the teaching that the only thing that matters for our salvation is how we are at the end of life?
- What three things was Solomon famous for? What sins were his downfall? What was Solomon’s punishment for his sin?
- Why do we consider Solomon a righteous saint even though there is no evidence of his repentance in the scriptures?
- Why were the issues of adultery and concubinage treated differently in Old Testament times?
- How do we as Christians know that the practice of polygamy is not in accordance with God’s will for us? When did the Jews stop practicing polygamy?
