We’re always looking for ideas to get the most out of Dr. Jeannie’s lessons. With this in mind, the following questions were provided by the Bible study group at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Cambridge, MA. These questions are related to both Samuel & Hanna (Part 2) and Samuel & Hanna (Part 3).
- How is Hanna’s prayer for a child an ideal model of prayer in many ways?
- What happens during Hanna’s first encounter with the High Priest Eli at the Tabernacle? How does she react?
- Review: Why shouldn’t we consider St. John Chrysostom to be misogynistic or an anti-Semite?
- What does Hanna have to teach us about spiritual ailments? Why is the story of Hanna included in the Bible for our benefit?
- How did Hanna treat Samuel once he was born? What happened when she delivered him to the temple?
- It seems unfair and somewhat random how some people have their prayers answered speedily, while others have to wait a long time, and still others did not see their prayers granted during their lifetime. We cannot know the mind of God, but why do you suppose it happens this way?
