We’re always looking for ideas to get the most out of Dr. Jeannie’s lessons. With this in mind, the following questions were provided by Marianna Sayeg from the Bible study group at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Cambridge, MA. These questions are related to both Leviticus (Part 3) and Leviticus (Part 4).
- How did the first Jewish Temple come to be built? How was it destroyed? How was the second Temple different from the first?
- What was the physical layout of the Herodian Temple (starting from the outside, working your way in)? Who was allowed to enter each successively restrictive space?
- Which prophets foretold the destruction of the Temple? Why was their punishment so severe? How is this related to Christ’s trial?
- When were the Jews allowed to rebuild the Temple a third time? What happened when they tried?
- Besides giving us a better understanding of the historical events of Christ’s life, why is it important for us to study the history of the Jewish Temple? What can we learn from the fact that the Temple was destroyed, even when the Jews thought God would never abandon them?
